Loved the post! I have often had a character start screaming for attention and becoming more interesting than the characters in the book I am writing. I've learned to listen! I set aside the first book and dive into the other one until the initial obsession has passed. Really loved your way of putting it!

Carolyn, what a wonderful ramble through the workings of a creative person's mind! I loved it! Especially the part about rubbing against someone's dangling participle. I hope an editor grabs "Something Fierce" really soon. I want to learn more about both the hero and his best friend.

What fun!!

I think sometimes we give our secondary characters more leeway because we can, and they turn out to be the ones we want to hang with!

Oh, it's true, it's true...

Great blog. I'm especially relishing the image of you rubbing against the best friend's "dangling participles."

Great post! I'm starting to find the same thing in my current WIP, except it isn't the hero's best friend. It's his own brother! The hero plays it a little safer but his brother is more do anything, say anything. You know, a bad boy. Exciting. And he doesn't want his own woman. He want's the hero's woman. What am I going to do with these guys?
