As a new writer, I don't think I could have honed my skills as quickly if I wasn't in a crit group. While it's fantastic when someone crits your work (regardless of reaction - it gets you thinking), the main power is from reading other wip. That's the powerful part. I've learnt so much from reading other wip's. Much more so than simply reading published books. How on earth did authors ever cope before the internet?
